HISTORY of ULV

Unity of Lehigh Valley was incorporated as a Unity church in 1979. This followed months of meeting as a study group while gathering the people for a board and the resources to attract a minister.  As related by one of our founding members, the desire from the beginning was to create a community where lives would be changed by the transformational teachings of "practical Christianity."

I discovered Unity while living in New Orleans. The year was 1977. It changed my life. When my mother died suddenly and I moved back to the Lehigh Valley, there were only two Unity churches in the State of Pennsylvania: Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. My cousin David Miller, who had been studying Unity books, announced to me "we are going to start a new church here in the Lehigh Valley, a Unity church!". After telling David he was crazy, I had to admit that both our lives had been changed dramatically through this "school of practical Christianity" whose headquarters was in Lee Summit, Missouri.

...a mighty oak has grown!

From meetings in a hotel in Allentown to the building in Emmaus to whatever Spirit has next for us, Unity of Lehigh Valley continues to grow.  We are pleased to be able to provide classes, workshops, music events, service opportunities and Sunday services for those seeking a deeper understanding of their own creative power and its relationship to the Divine Creator; for those seeking to create a peaceful presence in a turbulent world and for those simply looking for what might be missing in their lives.  We are blessed with a music program, a chaplain program, a youth ministry and a number of ministry teams and activities that provide a way for everyone to connect and participate.
